Veterans Park

After our trip to the Theodore Roosevelt Inagural Site, we drove down Veterans Park since it was Veterans Day, I wanted to check it out.

I had to check out the website (www.buffaloplace.com/PopupLeaf/VeteransPark/140) on Grammy's phone to find out a little bit more information.

"In 2003 a new public esplanade opened to display monuments to veterans and serve as a backdrop to the Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park. Shaded sitting areas and open lawn areas serve as the location for memorial services and annual vigils conducted by various veterans groups.

The walkway is intended to be a reflective area and is separate from the main esplanade along the water. Eight monuments, have been reinstalled in the park: Vietnam War Monument, Pearl Harbor Monument, Submarine Veterans Monument, Korean War Memorial, Marine Corp Vets, Merchant Marine Monument, the new Civil War monument and the new Polish WWII Veterans memorial."

Of course I had to pose for a picture in front of this sign.

I am so excited to check out the monuements.

Our first stop was at the Vietnam Veterans Monument.

Next, we visted the WNY Iraq and Afghanistan Veteran’s War Memorial.

Since Mom is of Polish hertiage, of course I wanted to look at the Polish-American Veterans WWII Memorial.

"Hey look! It's the Naval Park!"

I really wanted to check out the ships.

Mom said "no pups allowed" :(

The region’s first monument honoring Hispanic-American military veterans.

It was unveiled in 2013.

I wanted to sniff out the Rust Bucket Brigade Monument.

"Look Grammy! A 'Minnie' flag!"

Stay tuned for my walk down to Canalside...
